What bait do I use to attract wild hogs?

I hunt on a ranch in west Texas and the wild hogs are scarring away all the deer. I shot a 250 pounder the other day. what is the best bait/lure to use to bring them in so i can get a shot, and what is the best hunting technique to hunt them? I either use a 270 bolt action or a 3030 lever action when i hunt.

It’s hard to beat corn for a hog lure. One way you can make the corn more effective is to get a 5 gallon bucket and fill it 2/3rds with corn, and then add water. This will cause the corn to sour and the hogs can smell it a mile away.

To keep the corn from getting eaten in one day you could dig a hole with a post hole digger and fill it up with the soured corn. The hogs will then stay in the area as long as any corn is left. They will do their best to root down and get it, but it will take them a while to get it all.

You can make you a ground blind downwind of the baited spot and shoot all the hogs you care to shoot over a period of time. Just keep digging holes and adding the sour corn. Nothing is more effective and economical then the method I have just described to you.

In most states hogs are such a nusiance you are allowed to hunt them at night. They even have special lights that you put on your feeder that will not spook the hogs and let you shoot them at night when they become nocturnal after being shot at in the day time a few times.
